51st Annual Fermilab Users Meeting

The annual gathering of the Fermilab Users Meeting will be held on June 20-21, 2018.

This meeting provides an opportunity for Fermilab users and employees to discuss the latest and leading-edge physics results from the experimental and theory programs occurring at the laboratory, as well as exciting new future initiatives at Fermilab. Additionally, the meeting hosts thoughtful presentations from leaders of the scientific policy community. This year’s theme for the meeting is A Vision of Science and Culture. The guest keynote speaker is the award-winning American theoretical physicist, Professor Sylvester James Gates.

Topics to be covered at the Users Meeting include:

  • Astroparticle Physics
  • Neutrino Physics
  • Muon Physics
  • Accelerator Physics
  • Future Plans
  • Diversity and Inclusion

Information

Registration deadline will be June 12. The meeting banquet and poster session will be held on June 20. The abstracts for the posters are due by April 20, 2018.

We strongly encourage early career scientists to register and submit abstracts for the Poster Session.

A vendor exhibition will highlight state-of-the-art scientific tools and equipment. We thank the vendors for their assistance in supporting the Users Meeting.

The FSPA New Perspectives conference will be held on June 18-19. Early career scientists will showcase their contribution to the scientific community.

Festa Italiana

The popular Festa Italiana, sponsored by the Fermilab Users Organization and the Cultural Association of Italians at Fermilab, will be held at the Kuhn Barn in the Fermilab Village on June 19, 2018 from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. All attendees and companions are welcome.

Travel assistance for early career scientists

The Fermilab Users Executive Committee (UEC) is pleased to announce that the Universities Research Association (URA) is sponsoring travel grants for eligible early career scientists to attend the 2018 New Perspectives (18-19 June), Annual Users Meeting (20-21 June) conferences.

Awards will be granted to students and postdocs affiliated with URA institutions and can support travel to/from, and room/board at Fermilab during the Users Meeting, as well as additional time at the lab for participants to work on Fermilab sponsored projects. The deadline for application is May 14, 2018 and applications are submitted here.

Awards are intended for graduate students and postdocs. Preference will be given to participants presenting a talk at New Perspectives or a poster at the Users Meeting. All applications completed by May 6, 2018 will receive full consideration. Please, feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.
