Statement

I have been a part of the Fermilab community since late 2015 when I became a CMS post doc with University of Puerto Rico Maygeuze. Since that time I have experienced the on-site and off-site user experience as well as now the employee experience. In my current role as software developer for CMS I work on storage needs.

In my time at the lab I have had opportunities to participate in many activities. One of the first lab-wide activities with the users executive committee (UEC) that I participated in was the users meeting. At this users meeting I was able to present my research to the lab. It was a great opportunity to take part in and one that I have encouraged my students to participate in. After that I became involved in advocating for science during the trip that the UEC participates in by advocating to congress. While participating in these events I have met some great people that have worked in various experiments around the lab.

Having a strong UEC group can really help advocate and bring diversity to the lab. As the lab transitions from COVID, being able to bring groups and users back to the lab is going to be really important. Part of that effort can be helped by having a strong UEC. We know that the badging procedure has changed and advocating for that not only for the short term user for test beam but the long term post doc based here helping to make the procedure as clear and as straight forward as possible is important.

With the new Snowmass reports coming out, it will be important to present a strong message to congress in the coming years. We want to continue to have a diverse funded, inclusive environment where mega-science can be done. If elected I will use my skills I have from working in multiple collaborative environments and my knowledge I have gained on diversity and inclusion to help to strengthen and further the UEC’s message.
