UEC Nominee for 2023-2025 Term: Judah Unmuth Yockey

Judah Unmuth Yockey
Fermilab

Statement

I joined the Fermilab community in October 2020 as a post-doc. My primary focuses are lattice field theory,
quantum information science (QIS), and quantum gravity. I received my doctorate from the University of Iowa in 2017, and did my first post-doc at Syracuse University. At Fermilab, I collaborate with other theorists in the lattice, and QIS communities. I am the local organizer for the third floor journal club, and have been for the past year. Additionally, in my time here I have mentored two undergraduate interns, and was an organizer for the Quantum Computing Internship for Physics Undergraduates—a summer school hosted here at Fermilab with the aim of training future generations in QIS.

Fermilab has always had a focus on bringing together peoples of many different backgrounds and experiences.
This collection of diverse viewpoints requires care and cultivation for the community to thrive. As a member of the UEC I will attempt to foster a culture that promotes and encourages this eclectic community, and do what I can to help resolve issues that arise.
