Statement
I am a scientist at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) working on NOvA. My research interest is neutrino physics, in particular, three-flavour oscillations. I’ve been a Fermilab user since 2015, when I joined the experiment. In the NOvA collaboration, I had a great pleasure to serve as a production and three-flavour analysis groups’ co-convener and a term as a young scientists’ representative in the executive committee. I’m also involved in organizational and management work at JINR, including conferences, representation of the interests of young scientists, science popularization, and so on.
I’m working mostly as a remote user. When I visited Fermilab for the first time in 2016, I was charmed by its international, transparent, inclusive, and intelligent environment. The lab was open to everyone in the world, and the only thing that mattered was science. People with different backgrounds worked in mutual agreement to reveal the mysteries of nature and shape the future. These days I find it pretty disappointing that Fermilab becomes closed to people. This seems to me one of the threats to the success of future world flagship projects. Favorable political and budgetary climate for lab is crucial as well.
As a neutrino physicist, I believe that Fermilab plays an important role in the field. Success of future FNAL projects is crucial for the lab to continue being among the world’s scientific leaders. I find UEC efforts in helping to achieve this success quite important, and this is the reason my name is present in this ballot.
